چکیده
Quality is an important aspect of durum wheat in the processing sector. Thus, recognizing variability quality and agronomic traits their association fundamental designing plant breeding programs. This study aimed to assess variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlation some among 420 Ethiopian genotypes identify promising with distinct attributes produce superior pasta. The field experiment was conducted at two locations (Sinana Chefe Donsa) using alpha lattice design replications. Analysis variance, chi-square test, Shannon–Weaver diversity index revealed existence highly significant (p < 0.001) variation for all studied traits. broad-sense heritability values were ranging from 46.2% (days maturity) 81% (thousand kernel weight) advance as a percent mean 1.1% 21.2% (grain yield). phenotypic coefficients possible pairs quantitative showed 0.05) most paired gluten content (GC) grain protein (GPC) negatively correlated yield yield-related positively associated phenological traits, while negatively. frequency distributions amber-colored vitreous kernels, which are preferable characters processing, dominant genotypes. identified top 5% genotypes, have amber color high GC GPC well sufficient yield, could be directly used by sector and/or donors alleles

Association of Agronomic Traits with SNP Markers in Durum Wheat (Triticum turgidum L. durum (Desf.))
Association mapping is a powerful approach to detect associations between traits of interest and genetic markers based on linkage disequilibrium (LD) in molecular plant breeding. In this study, 150 accessions of worldwide originated durum wheat germplasm (Triticum turgidum spp. durum) were genotyped using 1,366 SNP markers. The extent of LD on each chromosome was evaluated. Association of singl...

In the present study, 150 accessions of worldwide originated durum wheat germplasm (Triticum turgidum spp. durum) were observed for major seedling traits and their growth. The accessions were evaluated for major seedling traits under controlled conditions of hydroponics at the 13th, 20th, 27th and 34th day-after germination. Biomass traits were measured at the 34th day-after germination. Correl...
متن کاملTransfer of Soft Kernel Texture from Triticum aestivum to Durum Wheat, Triticum turgidum ssp. durum
Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum) is a leading cereal grain whose primary use is the production of semolina and pasta. Its rich culinary relationship to humans is related, in part, to its very hard kernel texture. This very hard texture is due to the loss of the Puroindoline genes that were eliminated during the allopolyploid formation of T. turgidum approximately 0.5 million years ago...
متن کاملTraits Explaining Durum Wheat (Triticum turgidum L. spp. Durum) Yield in Dry Chilean Mediterranean Environments
Yield under water stress (YS) is used as the main criterion in the selection of wheat varieties for dry Mediterranean environments. It has been proposed that selection of genotypes using YS assisted by morphological and physiological traits associated with YS is more efficient in selecting high yielding genotypes for dry environments. A study was carried out at the Antumapu Experiment Station o...
متن کاملNovel Sources of Stripe Rust Resistance Identified by Genome-Wide Association Mapping in Ethiopian Durum Wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum)
Stripe rust of wheat, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is a global concern for wheat production, and has been increasingly destructive in Ethiopia, as well as in the United States and in many other countries. As Ethiopia has a long history of stripe rust epidemics, its native wheat germplasm harbors potentially valuable resistance loci. Moreover, the Ethiopian germplasm has ...
